Beruwala is another tourism based town, situated by the Galle road between Kalutara and Aluthgama about 55 km away from Colombo. Tourism and fishing industry are major earnings in the area. The light house in Beruwala is a major attraction in the city of Beruwala. Supermarkets, leading schools, banks and all other facilities are available. A mixture of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people live in the area peacefully.

Divisional secretariat of Beruwala is situated near the Colombo.  Mathara main road.The people who are coming from Colombo, passing Beruwala town, ahead 100 m, they can approach to Divisional secretariat of Beruwala.The attendance who are coming from Galle passing Aluthgama town coming towards Kaluthara, they can see Divisional secretariat of Beruwala .The people who are coming from Mathugama in to Aluthgama, they can approach to this Divisional secretariat in above road.In addition the railway line of Mathara, Colombo is situated near by this Divisional secretariat.

The Divisional secretariat of Beruwala is claimed special place from 14 Divisional secretariats of Kaluthara District in Sri lanka because of factors the population of Sinhalease , Muslims, and Tamils and the religionists of Buddhists, Islamics and Hindus are lived in there, and it is commercial center.The Divisional secretariat of Beruwala is claimed special place from 14 Divisional secretariats of Kaluthara District in Sri lanka because of factors the population of Sinhalease , Muslims, and Tamils and the religionists of Buddhists, Islamics and Hindus are lived in there, and it is commercial center.The Divisional secretariat Division of Beruwala is contained extent of 70.4 km (27.2 miles ) and bounded on the north by Divisional secretariat Division of Kaluthara, on the east by Divisional secretariats divisions of Mathugama and Dodamgoda, on the sauth by Divisional secretariat Division of Bentara and on the west by sea.

A.    History

This Division secretariat was identified as Divisional Revenue office before  the evolution. That era this Division was named as “ kaluthara Thotamuna south “ At that period Mr.Nanayakkara was as Divisional Revenue officer in there. This office was situated at Aluthgama (1967)

In 1976 this was named government agent’s office and situated at Beruwala. It was included with Government Agent, Assistant staff officer clerks and several field officers Mr. Abeywickrama was as first Government Agent.

In 1991 It was converted to Divisional secretariat and Mr.Hapuarachchi was as first Divisional secretary. At that period the Staff were divided to Branches and Administrative office and Assistant Divisional secretary posts were appointed in there. Two Assistant Divisional secretary were appointed to Branches.

Now this office is included Divisional secretary, Assistant Divisional secretary with 230 staffs and two buildings established formality.A
